BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Art and Furnishings

A boutique hotel where art and design create a unique environment designed to give the guest an experience of true beauty and elegance.

The furnishings, the precious canvas and fabrics dress the rooms in a sublime way, embellish the halls and rooms, the paintings and pieces of the best contemporary design make every space of Palazzo Brunaccini unique and emotional.

To beautify the walls guests will find the wonderful canvases and charming fabrics decorated by the Sicilian artist Eugenio Vazzano who, in his very personal artistic research, combines the ancient wisdom of Sicilian craftsmanship with the cosmopolitan breath of the most modern design. Vazzano himself "dressed" the hotel with fabrics, pillows, tapestries and curtains. "The pieces" sewn together tell the Sicily of elegance, of nobility, but also of simplicity and joy.

At hotel hall guests can admire the puppets of the ancient Sicilian tradition of the Mancuso Brothers: long and fascinating tradition carried out by many "cuntisti"of the singers who fascinated and continue to fascinate the public with intriguing events of spells, betrayals, deceptions, love, duels and battles. Valuable works by the artist Vincenzo Vizzari embellish the boutique of the Hotel: these are the Cittacotte, miniaturized copies, in scale, of palaces, churches, doors and other monuments of Palermo. Small realistic and evocative masterpieces, handmade in limited quantities.

The history of the Palace

The Brunaccini, family of Florentine origins documented in 1381 under the flag of the Golden Lion, received the title of nobility and made his fortune thanks to the power derived from their important production in the field of the hat. A scandal involved the family. The story tells that Princess Lucrezia Brunaccini was pregnant very young and before the wedding, therefore, was removed from the city of origin and sent to Palermo.

Here he founded in 1714 the "Reclusorio Brunaccini" to welcome and educate orphan girls belonging to families of the upper middle class fallen into poverty. Finally, Princess Lucrezia moved to Messina where the dynasty continues today, while the Palazzo Brunaccini in Palermo was abandoned and destroyed during the Second World War. Today, thanks to a careful work of philological restoration, a noble palace has been restored with a contemporary and charming interior design, which maintains the charm of the past.

It is Vazzano himself who “dressed” the hotel with fabrics, cushions, tapestries, curtains and carpets. Etna black, widow's mourning black, citrus green, saline white, tufaceous stone beige, tomato "abstract" red, Megara Iblea blue: "the patches" sewn together tell the Sicily of elegance, nobility, but also of simplicity and of happiness. They tell about a country, a state of mind, the story, the balance between staying and leaving. The fabrics are researched and constructed by Eugenio pursuing the philosophy of re-creative recovery, where even the smallest piece of fabric becomes indispensable for a new mosaic. Each fabric is dyed, crumpled, wrinkled, decorated by the creator and his staff of skilled seamstresses in the Melilli workshop, housed in an old nineteenth-century Sicilian caponata factory.
