It is also known as the Church of Jesus and it was built at the end of the 16th century to celebrate the power of the Jesuits, who came in Sicily in the middle of the century.

After many changes during the centuries, Casa Professa was heavily damaged by bombs of the 2nd World War.

Since 2009 and after a wise and long restoration, this wonderful church of the 16th century has been visited in its original glory; the facade is outstanding and it hosts the marble statue of the Madonna of the Cave, a precious piece of the Sicilian sculpture.

It has a huge literary vocation: Tomasi di Lampedusa and other important writers have sung the praises of its beauty in their works.
